The semester officially ended this week and I am so happy! I finally get to rest for the next few weeks until I take my last class next month. And then…graduation! I can apply for graduation on Monday! 🙂 I didn’t make the graded I’d hoped for in Finance, but I still did well and learned a lot, so I’m happy about that. I made A’s in everything else, though 🙂 It’s so crazy to me that I have one more class and just 3 more months until I’m a college graduate. But that’s not all the good news I have…

I’m engaged! My fiancé (love saying that!) talked to my dad yesterday about getting his blessing to marry me, and my dad was so happy and quick to say yes. Then he asked me to marry him a few hours after 🙂 So we’re getting a graduation and a wedding all in one summer! We’re so excited and happy to be starting our lives together soon. It still feels surreal…the reality of it hasn’t kicked in yet. We’re definitely already overwhelmed, though. It’ll be a busy and hectic, but fun, next few months 🙂

So yes that’s my update for right now, and my news 🙂 I’ll post again soon!

Crazy new year so far

This semester has been a little hectic so far. I know I’ve been a bit MIA, as some of my classes have hectic schedules and are a bit difficult. My finance class is very hard, much more than I expected it to be.  I have the first exam coming up this weekend, so I’m trying really hard to understand the material and the equations.

My Capstone class is fun and exciting. I can’t believe I’m already on the Capstone. College flew by! Hard to believe I’m almost done!

Criminology is great and fascinating, though I have a quiz every 5 days so I have to stay on top of it everyday. Adolescent Psychology is also fascinating. Usually, I’d be in that class right now, but there’s a freeze here so classes were cancelled.

And Photography is fun! I love it, as y’all probably already know 🙂 I’ve had to dab into photoshop and learn how to use that. It was pretty new to me. What I’m really looking forward to is learning how to do nighttime photography, which is coming up soon, so I’m excited 🙂

Speaking of photography, due to the freeze, I’ve been able to practice my photography using the icicles we experienced – which we only get to experience maybe every few years.  All the schools are closed, many workplaces are closed, government offices are closed, etc. It’s been quite a way to start off the new year!

These were from our deck and stairs:

Our cars were frozen too:

Those were taken during the freeze last Friday, but we experienced another one today. I have to say that I’ve loved this winter. It doesn’t usually get very cold here, so it’s been a nice cold winter 🙂

Favorite time of year is coming!

Wow, it’s been 3 weeks since my last post! Five classes has been hectic and stressful, leaving little time to myself, but I’m doing well in them and I like them a lot. Yet, I’m still ready for a break! We still have 7 or 8 weeks until Thanksgiving break, so there’s a ways to go yet. But it’ll get here fast. Each semester seems to fly by even faster than the previous one. I mean I’m already in my last year of college and the first semester of it is a third of the way done, and it feels like it started yesterday! Crazy how time flies when you’re having fun 😛

So yes, time is flying by and lightning speed…light speed? I don’t know, they’re both fast 🙂 I’m so excited that it’s FINALLY October. October through December is my favorite time of year. Halloween and Christmas are my favorite holidays, and I can’t wait for them to get here.

I was talking with my boyfriend last night about what we’re going to do for Halloween this year. Last year, we went to his mom’s for a Halloween party for his little sister and little brother. Hmm…maybe we’ll go trick ‘r treating with them this time. I’ve never been trick ‘r treating before. I was never allowed to celebrate Halloween, but I never had anything against myself; so this year, I get to celebrate. I’m still trying to decide what I wanna be, in terms of a costume. It’ll be fun! 🙂

There’s also this fun activity of sorts called the October Challenge – or the October Horror Movie Challenge. The goal is to watch as many horror movies (that you’ve never seen before) as possible by Halloween, starting the first day of October. The minimum is 31. No maximum. I’m behind, but I’ll catch up. It’s fun! 🙂 If anyone is up to participating, let me know how it goes! I’ll probably be updating on my progress in the challenge myself 🙂

Also, I’ve been thinking about doing a meditation challenge, or starting a my own meditation practice. With a load of classes and working on top of that, I need a way to de-stress everyday. Admittedly, and ashamedly, I haven’t been keeping up with my yoga. But that changes this week! There’s always time to work it into the day somehow, even if we don’t feel like there is.  I’ve felt really tired and sluggish lately, and now I know why. So I will get back on that and hopefully see my stress levels decrease.

Anyway, I just wanted to update y’all and let y’all know why it’s been 3 weeks since my last post. I try not to let that happen, but sometimes my schedule leaves little time for anything else. But I will work on that. Time management 🙂 Talk to y’all later!

Summer and classes and work, oh my!

This past week was crazy, but fun! I worked only 2 days last week, but they were longer days than usual. But it was good 🙂 Then this past weekend, I went to Galveston with my boyfriend’s family and spent the weekend with them at a beach house. So fun! I’d never been to a beach house before. I loved it. It was literally just a 2-3 minute walk to the beach. I wasn’t outside for very long, but I still got sunburned! Darn me and my pale skin 😛 But it was definitely the most fun, best weekend of my life.

Summer classes start in 2 weeks. I’m excited! I’m taking a sociology class and an anthropology class in June. I’ll admit I’m bit a nervous about it ‘cause I’ve heard from classmates that sociology classes are hard, and anthropology is a ton of work. Plus I’ll be working too. So, we’ll see how that goes. But I’m excited nonetheless. I’ve always wanted to take a sociology class and I finally get to! And anthropology sounds interesting. So yes, I’m excited 🙂

I can’t believe it’s already summer, though! Just a couple more months and I start my final year of college…can’t believe I’m becoming a senior! Graduation is just one year away. Can’t wait! I’m really looking forward to working in the psychology field. Hopefully I’ll get to intern somewhere in that field maybe in the fall or next spring.

So yes, that’s been my week and that’s the plan for June. I’ll talk about July the closer we get to it. Talk to y’all later! (And yes, I know the title for this post is weird :P)
